The customer looked for a fully-automatic and eco-friendly cleaning process for removal of conformal coating Peters ELPEGUARD SL 1307 FLZ from coating frames. Before, they used mechanical force with the usage of a thinner to remove the conformal coating. It was harmful to the worker and to the environment as well. Moreover, the mechanical removal of the Peters coating causes coating frames to become scratched.
Our R&D team tested the cleaning ability of 1 piece of coating frame, which is used during PCB conformal coating with Peters ELPEGUARD SL 1307 FLZ in customer’s production.
Peters coating is one of the most common coatings used in the electronic production.

As contamination of coating frames was relatively low, testing in ultrasonic Sonix® 355 CRRD took only 30 minutes. If the cleaning process in the ultrasound cleaning machine is very quick, it is possible to clean Peters coating also in Injet® series, with Spray-In-Air technology.
Ultrasound cleaning systems are the most expensive due too high-tech technology. However, if the contamination is higher, Sonix® is probably the only reasonable solution considering the cleaning time, which is always longer in the Injet series.
